DENAE WEIMER BIOGRAPHY
Born in North Dakota, spending pre-teen summers working in the sun flower fields opened a love for the flowers and brilliant colors all around her. This cultivated the joy of drawing and seeing.
As a teenager she helped to build a lake cabin with her family in Minnesota and began to appreciate another wonderful landscape. With water everywhere she viewed sunsets and sunrises which then added to her color sense.
From high school she moved to Mesa, Arizona. There she was exposed to an entirely new landscape. The striking beauty in the high walls of sedimentary rock of the Grand Canyon and desert flowers sparked another chord of gratitude for color and values.
DeNae received instruction during her junior high and high school years of art classes and won many awards. She is mainly a self taught artist starting in water color after high school for 15 years before working in oil paints.
DeNae started operating Mark Ogle Studio upon moving to Montana. Through out a decade of selling art she was fortunate to meet some wonderful artists who mentored her along and critiqued many of her works. Among the many artists she received from were Mark Ogle, Robert Cavanaugh, Tom Saubert, Frank Hagel, and the study of Joe Abbrecia’s past works. She says ” I am so blessed to have had such a talented group of fine artists willing to share their love of painting with me.” Becoming an accomplished professional artist she also has works being collected across the globe.
DeNae shares ” my love for painting has only increased through the discipline of learning both oil and watercolor mediums.
In 1995 when DeNae and her young family put down roots and started exploring the grandeur of the rocky mountains, “Packing horses into the Bob Marshal Wilderness and hiking the peaks in Glacier National Park she found so much beauty that she began painting the mountains and the mountain wildflowers . This is a whole different challenge from the Plains of North Dakota. ” This life is an extraordinary journey” she declares.
Painting animals to lanscapes to Still Life, DeNae has found heart, beauty and challenge in all of them.
